I don’t move my car on leaf day.
I move it the night before.
Several neighbors slept in and moved their cars, but by 9 am most of the work is done and their spots won’t be cleaned.
Several neighbors don’t move their cars at all.
Several neighbors sleeping in their vans probably didn’t get the mailer about leaf day.
It’s okay though.
With a broom and a rake, any square inch of road can get a scrub.
Leaves falling.
People not moving their cars on leaf day.
Things to be expected each fall.
About this poem
Two times each Fall the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) picks up leaves in Portland. Many people don’t move their cars on “leaf day” causing frustration for neighbors.
