Wim Hof Breathing for Hangovers

(Last Updated On: )

Wim Hof Breathing (WHB) is a simple breathing technique that may help cure hangover symptoms. The 10-15 minute breathing technique improves blood oxygenation, which in turn may reduce the major hangover symptoms like headache, anxiety, fatigue, and disorientation.

If you’re hungover right now, find a comfortable seat and let’s get into it! Of course you don’t have to be hungover to try this feel good breathing technique. 🙂

*Always do the Wim Hof Method sitting or lying down. Never in water or while driving, as the breathing technique can cause some people to pass out.*

How to do Wim Hof Breathing for Hangover

Time needed: 12 minutes

Overview: 30-40 deep breaths, breath hold, then repeat three to four times. Be sure to always do this breathing technique sitting down.

  1. Breath fully in as deeply as you can.

You can use your mouth or your nose to inhale, maybe both. Just get as much air in as you can.

  2. Let your breathe go.

Don’t fully exhale, just exhale naturally.

  3. Repeat 30-40 times

Breathing in as powerfully as you can, but only exhaling the normal amount. You can try to find a rhythm to your breathing.

  4. On the final breath, breath in as powerfully and deeply as you can.

This is your last chance to get air and oxygen in. Go for it!

  5. Let it go – fully this time.

After exhaling fully, hold your breath. Just relax and be calm. What’s mind blowing is many people can hold their exhaled breath for 30 seconds to a minute on their first try.

  6. When you feel the urge to breathe, breathe fully then hold for 10-15 seconds

It’s okay to move around a little bit, to get that breath into every orifice of your lungs.

  7. Repeat steps 1-6 three times.

You’ll find that you can hold your breath longer each time.

Did you try it?! Be sure to post a note in the comments about how it made you feel. It makes many people feel warm, tingly, and giddy. Did you hangover symptoms abate?
