Everyone Please Share! Portland Police shot and KILLED another black man! A son, a father, a brother, a family member and a friend was lost and MURDERED BY PORTLAND POLICE! https://t.co/Pv8sx3YLpi— Shalece (@BossNailBabe) October 2, 2018
There were around 100 protestors gathered at 3rd and Harvey Milk Street. Four out of five were wearing masks. Most were wearing black. Several placards said Justice for PatPat.
Many had the twisted looks of both grieving and being angry. They looked tired but powerful.
My first thought was to assume those in masks were cowards looking for a fight. Agent provocateurs, who use these protests as an excuse to be craven vandals. It’s a very Portland thing.
My second thought quickly overrode this one; disproportional police violence against minorities must be stopped. A small detour (on a Saturday) is a miniscule cost for an important reminder.
