The Insistence of π waves.
Crash lively and oblivious
to ants on the rock.
Slowly take with soft claws obsessed with persistence.
Was it wind, or is it you that brought this might?
Matters little for waves always win.
I wrote this poem after visiting Nakalele Blowhole in Maui, Hawaii. The blowhole is on the north east corner of Maui, a place constantly bombarded with the trade winds and the large waves they produce.
When you visit Maui, consider dropping by this magical place, but treat it with respect, both in the spirit of protecting nature, and protecting yourself (at least several people have died here after being swept off the rocks.)
For me, this was an intense place. I was on my first big family trip with my new daughter, and families, and the steadiness of waves and wind contrast with powerful but eroded rock, reminded me that all moments are temporary, and permanent, or they can be precious or not.;

Lovely poem. It sounds like a very dramatic spot. Makes you think about impermanence, persistence, and the safety of the little ones.
Very perceptive, Perry! Really was an incredible experience having the whole family including my new daughter in a place like that.
